This is the approximation of a course that I set up in my building yesterday and thought it was a great little brain teaser to share with the masses on a cold snowy day to keep us thinking about agility and course strategy. Gotta keep the mind sharp you know!
So, I only gave you the first 7 obstacles to start with, I thought the opening was very challenging in and of itself. What I want is some dialog about what you think is the best way to handle this opening utilizing the most efficient path and keeping in mind what cues and signals you need to use to get the correct response from your dog.
I will share my thoughts after some of you have shared yours! Have fun!

I would lead out to -15,25 in a lead out push position to send my dog over 2 but wrapping back at an acute angle. Upon commitment to 2 I am taking a step back from 2 and then heading up the line with dog on right and right arm out, supporting 3 and 4. Before my dog takes off for 4 I've begun to decelerate to indicate the turn to 5, also using a verbal "here" or "dog's name" to support the deceleration turn cue. Upon commitment to 5, I leg it (dog on right) to the ennd of the aframe where I execute a change of sides to (dog on left) and send to 7.
I tried it both ways, dog on left and dog on right, the biggest issue with dog on right is getting the turn I wanted from 2 to 3 as well as being up the line far enough to make the decelleration cue appropriate for the jump and not too early picking up off course jump or too late getting the tunnel.
I preferred dog on left with a lead out almost to the broad jump. I cues the tire, added a little lean and cued the number 2 jump while completing my turn to the broad jump, I accellerated to the jump after the broad jump, decellerated after same jump and offered a rear cross cue which kept all lines very tight, try it!!
What cues the turn over 2?
Left hand back inviting the dog over jump.
Yowza!!!
But given we have few inches of snow here there is no chance in hell I'll be able to set it up so I can only imagine how perfect my dog and I would be in this opening sequence ;-)
That's just mean! Someone hasn't had enough rum in their eggnog!

I finally got this set up last night. It was really challenging! I did the opening with my dog on the right and had trouble getting the #5 jump. Either my dog turned and went between the jumps, around the #5 or into the tunnel. I will have to try it with the dog on the left.
OK, so we finally set it up last week. We struggled with dog on the left, dog on the right, could not get a good flow going from jump 2 to broad jump 3. Maybe we got it too tight or something, but could not get a good acceleration over the broad jump.
I finally decided to jump the dog clockwise over #2 and while she was committed to the jump I took off running, which gave me enough distance towards #5 to cue deceleration to get a tight turn from 5 to 6. Never did get the tunnel that way.
